Contributions for our next OCIES newsletter

The next issue of our OCIES newsletter will be published in April. We welcome contributions from members to make our newsletter relevant, engaging and informative. In particular, we invite pieces that explore:

  • Oceanic News: Send in your 500 – 600 word contribution (and photos) of recent comparative and international activities within the region. This could include teaching, research or networking events. Don’t forget to include a caption to accompany photos and the name/s of individuals. Please ensure that you have gained permission from individuals to publish their photo.
  • Book publications:Let us know if you have recently published a book. Send in a photo of the cover and a short blurb.
  • Blogs: We’d love to let members know about your blog. Let us know if you have a blog that explores issues relating to comparative and international education. Send a short blurb about your blog and the link.
  • Recent PhD completions: We’d love to celebrate OCIES members who have recently completed their PhD. Please send us your full name, the title of your thesis and the name of your awarding institution.

Vaka Pasifiki Education Conference 2018 Abstracts close 16 March

The Institute of Education (IOE), USP is pleased to announce the Vaka Pasifiki Education Conference (VPEC), 2018. This conference follows the Vaka Pasifiki Education Conference 2016, marking “education for what? Revisited”. VPEC provides an opportunity for the sharing of ideas, presentation of research and best practice, and teaching and learning in Oceania.

Theme: It takes an island and an ocean: Rethinking Pacific Education for resilient, healthy communities

The XVI Annual International Conference of Bulgarian Comparative Education Society
(BCES) will take place in Golden Sands, Varna, Bulgaria, from June, 11- 15, 2018.
The theme of BCES 2018, ‘Education in Modern Society’, aims at understanding the role of education in modern societies and provokes conference participants to reflect on and

Comparative Education Seminar in Melbourne

Exploring challenges in education through innovation and collaboration

Are you a Melbourne based researcher, student or practitioner interested in comparative and international education? Do you want to meet others who are working or researching in similar areas as you and to have the opportunity to learn about their work and experiences in an informal setting?

Then join us for an interactive afternoon for an opportunity to hear from speakers, share your ideas experiences and socialise at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, The University of Melbourne, over drinks and nibbles.

Three speakers will stimulate our conversation with a panel discussion sharing their experiences and ideas about working and researching in a globalised, transnational world:

  • Professor Fazal Rizvi; Professor in Global Studies in Education, The University of Melbourne
  • Professor David Clarke; Director, International Centre for Classroom Research, The University of Melbourne
  • Dr Radhika Gorur, Senior Lecturer in Education, Deakin University, DECRA Fellow

 

The panel discussion will be followed by structured networking sessions, focusing on different geographic regions exploring a variety of issues related to education reform, policy and practice.

We will be offering drinks and nibbles during the seminar.
