General committee

A key outcome of our recent AGM was the revitalisation of the OCIES General Committee. Constitutionally, the General Committee is the governing body of the Society. It is comprised of the core Office bearers (Co-Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, Communications Officer and ex officio IEJ Editor) who also make up the Executive Committee, plus up to ten other committee members. 2024 activities

Activity Brief
OCIES vision
A small group to revisit the 2018 draft vision, in consideration of the Constitution, the GC Charter and conference Guidelines and redevelop to suit the current context, wider CIE mandate of OCIES and expanded membership
Logo
We raised the need for a new logo at the most recent AGM, with several examples displayed. This task would be to collect any logo ideas from the society, and then ask for a vote on the preferred one.
WCCES

A sub-committee to advertise and assess scholarships for the 2024 World Congress and potential other contributions.

Vaka Pasifiki

The next Vaka Pasifiki is in the Marshall Islands in 2025. A proposal was presented to the AGM to consider how OCIES support this event. A working group would consider what this looks like, is actioned etc.

(Will work with the co-Presidents and former co-President Rebecca Spratt).
Engagement and communications [potentially 2 role/s]: wider engagement; community brief
Engaging with broader communities, connecting them to OCIES scholars and research, enabling community voice in the structures and work of the society; what OCIES contributes to conference location communities.
Financial Matters
OCIES financial management – bank/institution; how OCIES is identified/registered as a Society; clearer financial plan for OCIES, to ensure sufficient revenue is coming in to cover our increasing expenditure (due to OCIES delivering more services to its members); management of the Waka Legacy fund and the Large and Small Grant
